What Is Queer Prom?

Queer Prom is an event hosted by Queer Resource Center Millvale, Harold's Haunt, and Maude's Paperwing Gallery for our 21+ LGBTQIA+ community to relive and reclaim a teenage milestone by attending a dance as their authentic selves.

This year, we're keeping it nice and simple. It's a cheap and cheesy prom!

    This year's Prom will be taking place on May 10th from 6pm to midnight at Harold's Haunt!

    Due to the location, we will have limited tickets for sale! However, if we sell out, we are hoping to have additional tickets available the week of prom if the weather cooperates!

    What makes this a cheap ass prom?

    - Our general silly theme! We're going for 80's movies prom vibes. Paper banners, cheesy decor, DIY photo booth, handmade and designed by teenagers is the whole goal.
    - No special venue; We'll be partying at Harold's Haunt!
    - A gravel dance floor. Wear your sneakers!
    - Cheese balls and Doritos on the snack bar! We'll have a range of treats, but we aren't getting a fully catered fancy snack selection this year.
    - No fancy photographer. Everyone will be able to take home their own instant print photos, but bring your phone camera to take your own photos in the photo booth!

Who is Queer Prom for?

Anyone who is 21+ and identifies as part of the LGBTQIA+ community, who would like a chance to reclaim prom as their authentic selves.

Is there a theme? Dress Code?

Our theme this year is Cheap and Cheesy, but also 80's as heck.

Tease that hair as big as you can, check the thrift stores for some sick outfits, and bring sneakers so you can comfortably dance on the gravel dance floor!

Is this all-ages?

Because there will be alcohol, this event is limited to 21+. However, we're looking forward to holding annual proms and hope you can join us in future years.

Will there be non-alcoholic drinks? Vegan/GF food?

Yes! There will be a selection of mocktails, non-alcoholic beers, and soft drinks at the bar.

Also, our snacks will include options for a wide variety of dietary restrictions, including vegan and gluten-free. It's just gonna be silly chips, dips, and desserts - nothing fancy. So eat dinner ahead of time!

All profit/proceeds from Queer Prom will go towards Queer Resource Center Millvale programming. Queer Prom is in part a fundraiser for our programming.
